Frequently asked questions

Before a consultation with the doctor

You can book an appointment with the doctor for skin and subcutaneous lesions, moles requiring expert assessment, lipomas, atheromas, fibromas, xanthelasmas or for problems in the anal area. The doctor will recommend a suitable approach only after the examination, according to the findings, the location of the lesion and the patient's overall state of health.
The first consultation begins with a discussion of the problems, medical history and any previous examinations. The doctor then assesses the findings and explains whether monitoring, an outpatient procedure, a histological examination or another specialist approach is appropriate. The scope of the examination and any further recommendations are determined individually.
Surgical treatment may be appropriate for lesions that grow, get in the way, are repeatedly irritated, cause discomfort or require expert assessment. These may include, for example, selected moles, fibromas, lipomas, atheromas or xanthelasmas. The doctor decides whether the procedure is appropriate after the examination.
Bring any available medical reports, the results of previous examinations, a list of medications you take and information about allergies. If the lesion has already been examined, monitored or removed, older dermatological, surgical or histological results will also help.
In some cases an outpatient procedure may be possible after the examination, if the nature of the findings, the location, the patient's state of health and the time available during the visit allow it. For other findings, the doctor will first recommend additional examination, preparation or a separate appointment for the procedure.
