No, the procedure itself is carried out under local anaesthesia, so it’s generally well tolerated and you usually won’t feel pain during it. It typically takes 30 to 45 minutes and is done on an outpatient basis, so you go home the same day. Excess labial tissue is removed using either a wedge or a linear technique, with dissolvable stitches hidden within the natural folds. Once the anaesthetic wears off, the area may be sensitive for a few days.
