We are a private clinic, so you pay for the examination and procedures directly at the clinic and do not need a referral. The price depends on the type and extent of the procedure and the chosen method, for example laser, sclerotherapy or miniphlebectomy. Vasilii Bulatov
Phlebologist specialising in the treatment of varicose veins, CSc.The phlebology practice and treatment of vein disorders at the Dermarevolta clinic is led by Vasilii Bulatov, a phlebologist specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of varicose disease. He studied medicine from 2007 to 2011 and then continued his professional training in general and cardiovascular surgery. In 2015 he obtained the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences (CSc.); his dissertation focused on endovenous laser treatment of varicose veins in older patients. In 2023 he completed the recognition of his medical diploma and the medical examination in Slovakia.
He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins, spider veins and chronic venous insufficiency. For examinations he uses duplex ultrasound diagnostics of the veins, and for treatment minimally invasive methods such as EVLA, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, microsclerotherapy and miniphlebectomy, always according to the ultrasound findings. He is a member of the International Union of Phlebology (UIP). He communicates with patients in Slovak and Russian.
When to see a phlebologist and which symptoms we treat
- Visible protruding, twisted or thickened varicose veins on the legs that gradually enlarge.
- Spider veins — fine red or blue dilated vessels on the thighs, calves and ankles.
- Swelling of the legs and ankles, heaviness or a feeling of tired legs towards the end of the day, after prolonged standing or sitting.
- Pain, burning or nighttime cramps in the calves that worsen with prolonged standing, sitting or in the heat.

Frequently asked questions about varicose veins and treatment
Which doctor treats varicose veins?
Varicose veins are treated by a phlebologist, i.e. a doctor specialising in vein disorders. At the Dermarevolta clinic, veins are cared for by phlebologist Vasilii Bulatov, who performs an ultrasound examination and proposes treatment. You do not need a referral from your GP and you can book directly.
What causes varicose veins?
Varicose veins develop when the venous valves stop working properly and blood pools in the veins instead of flowing towards the heart. How can varicose veins be removed?
Varicose veins are now treated in a minimally invasive way, without major surgery. The phlebologist chooses a suitable method based on the ultrasound findings:
- EVLA, laser closure of the damaged saphenous vein,
- ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy,
- microsclerotherapy and laser removal of spider veins,
- miniphlebectomy, removal of varicose veins through tiny punctures.

How much does varicose vein removal cost?
The price depends on the chosen method and the extent of the procedure. An initial examination by a phlebologist costs €65, or €105 with SONO of the leg veins. Foam sclerotherapy starts from €200, miniphlebectomy from €150 and EVLA laser ablation from €720. The exact amount is confirmed by the phlebologist after an ultrasound examination, as it depends on the number and size of the affected veins.
How much does sclerotherapy of varicose veins and spider veins cost?
The price of sclerotherapy depends on the method and the extent of the procedure. Microsclerotherapy of spider veins costs €250 per session, and foam sclerotherapy under ultrasound guidance starts from €200. For spider veins, laser removal from €30 is sometimes chosen. How many sessions you will need is determined by the phlebologist after a duplex ultrasound examination, as it depends on the number and size of the affected veins.
How is vein sclerotherapy performed?
During sclerotherapy, the doctor uses a thin needle to inject a sclerosing agent into the affected vein, which closes it from the inside, and the body gradually absorbs it. Larger veins are treated with foam sclerotherapy under ultrasound guidance, while fine spider veins are treated with microsclerotherapy. The procedure is outpatient, usually takes up to 30 minutes, and a compression stocking is recommended afterwards. Are varicose veins dangerous?
Varicose veins themselves usually do not directly threaten life, but without treatment they can gradually worsen and lead to complications such as vein inflammation, bleeding from a varicose node, or a leg ulcer. It is therefore advisable not to underestimate them and to have them examined.
Will varicose veins come back after the procedure?
The specific treated vein will not return, but venous disease is chronic, so over time new varicose veins may appear elsewhere, especially with a hereditary predisposition. The risk is reduced by compression, exercise and regular check-ups, which often include a duplex ultrasound of the veins.
