The outpatient procedure itself is painless thanks to local anaesthesia. The patient only feels a slight prick when it is applied, and then just mild pressure while the haemorrhoids are removed. Post-operative discomfort after the anaesthetic wears off is milder than with conventional surgery, especially with the LHP laser method, which requires no incision and no stitches. We relieve it easily and safely with common painkillers, according to the patient's individual sensitivity.
Yes, we perform video rectoscopy at the clinic. It is an endoscopic examination of the rectum with a slim instrument fitted with a camera, which sends the image to a monitor, so you see the findings together with the doctor.
During the examination the doctor:
- assesses the lining of the rectum,
- detects haemorrhoids, fissures, inflammation, polyps, growths and other changes,
- and, if needed, takes a sample for histology or performs a minor therapeutic step.
The examination usually takes 5 to 15 minutes. Depending on the situation we perform it with or without local anaesthesia; a general anaesthetic is not needed.
