Procedures we perform

Xanthelasma of the eyelid develops when fatty deposits build up under the skin. It does not disappear with dietary changes alone; it is a persistent cosmetic issue that requires professional treatment. Although this deposit is not dangerous, it can be visually disruptive and make your eyes look unnecessarily tired. At Dermarevolta, we focus on the gentle removal of xanthelasma, taking into account the delicate aesthetics of the eye area. Our specialists assess your case and choose the optimal approach, whether that is precise surgical excision or the Surgitron radiowave method, aiming for clear skin with virtually no visible scarring.

Professional diagnosis and consultation

Before every procedure, the doctor thoroughly examines your eyelids and, based on how deep the fatty deposit lies, determines which treatment for xanthelasma is medically best suited for you.

Surgical removal of xanthelasma

Classic surgical excision is the most effective method for deeper deposits. The surgeon removes the entire fatty deposit in one go, significantly reducing the risk of recurrence.

Radiofrequency method (Surgitron)

A modern approach to xanthelasma removal using the Surgitron radiowave device. This method is exceptionally gentle on the surrounding tissue and allows for fast healing with a minimal risk of scarring.

Electrocoagulation (electrocautery)

A method that uses electric current to destroy the fatty tissue. It is effective for removing smaller deposits and also provides immediate control of minor bleeding.

Removal of multiple deposits

We also manage more complex cases where fatty deposits merge or form several separate areas at once. Treatment is tailored to achieve a precise and aesthetically balanced result.

Painless local anaesthesia

Every procedure in the sensitive eye area is performed after careful numbing of the skin. Thanks to gentle local anaesthesia, xanthelasma removal is comfortable and virtually painless for the patient.

Xanthelasma removal price list

If you have been diagnosed with xanthelasma, the cost of surgical removal or removal by another method is always assessed individually, based on the size and number of fatty deposits. During your initial consultation, the doctor will prepare an exact quote for you. Thanks to local anaesthesia, the removal procedure itself is completely painless.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about xanthelasma and its removal (FAQ)

Xanthelasma of the eyelid is a well-defined build-up of fat (cholesterol) accumulated beneath the thin skin. In its early stage, it appears as just a tiny, inconspicuous yellowish patch, most often located near the inner corner of the eye. If left untreated, it tends to slowly grow larger, merge into raised patches, or develop further deposits nearby.
No. This is a common misconception. The body cannot naturally "dissolve" an established lipid deposit. Even if you significantly lower your blood cholesterol level, the existing deposit on the eyelid will remain permanently. The only way to remove it visually is through specialist treatment, whether surgical removal, the radiofrequency method (Surgitron), or another professional technique.
The deposit itself is medically benign; it is not a tumour and never develops into skin cancer. It is an aesthetic concern. However, it can be an important warning sign of a lipid metabolism disorder. It often points to raised cholesterol and the associated higher cardiovascular risk, so alongside treatment we also recommend a specialist check of your lipid profile.
The choice of method depends on the extent and depth of the deposit. The radiowave method (Surgitron) is excellent for smaller, more superficial changes, as it is very gentle on the tissue and the wound heals quickly. However, if the fatty deposit is larger or lies deeper, surgical removal of xanthelasma is generally preferred. This allows the surgeon to remove the entire deposit in one go, which significantly reduces the likelihood of the problem recurring in the same spot.
The skin on the eyelids has excellent regenerative capacity. During surgery, the incision is made with great care and the wound is closed with fine cosmetic sutures. Once healed, these are hidden within the natural folds of the eye. Over time, the resulting fine line becomes almost invisible to the naked eye.
Removal addresses the aesthetic consequence, not the underlying cause. If a lipid metabolism disorder persists in your body, or if you have a strong genetic predisposition, there is a risk of recurrence, as a new deposit may form elsewhere on the eyelid over time. For a lasting result, it is therefore advisable to have your blood cholesterol level checked after the procedure and, if necessary, adjust your lifestyle.
