PRP Therapy (Platelet-Rich Plasma)
You may also come across this treatment under names such as plasma therapy, plasmalifting, PRP therapy or the "vampire facial". It involves injecting your own plasma into the skin. Plasma is considered one of the most valuable fluids in the human body, often referred to as the "elixir of youth".
Plasma is the liquid component of blood in which various blood cells are suspended. It is rich in platelets and contains high concentrations of the body's own nutrients, including growth factors, proteins and vitamins. It stimulates regeneration, healing and tissue renewal, and improves oxygenation.
Besides treating hair loss, it is also used for skin rejuvenation and in other areas of medicine, such as orthopaedics and dentistry.
How is it obtained and what does the treatment involve?
After your blood is drawn, the tubes are placed in a special centrifuge for processing, where the plasma is separated from the red blood cells. The resulting plasma is injected directly into the hair follicles using a fine needle, where it stimulates regenerative processes, improves tissue oxygenation and helps improve the metabolism of the scalp.
How should I prepare for the treatment?
For around 24 hours before the treatment, it is best to avoid fatty foods and alcohol. Before the procedure itself, you should drink plenty of fluids to ensure the blood can be drawn smoothly for plasma preparation.
Does the treatment need to be repeated?
It is advisable to repeat the treatment at regular intervals of every 3 to 5 weeks, depending on your home care routine and further follow-up care. As a preventive measure against hair loss, the treatment can also be carried out less frequently, but we recommend at least 3 sessions at the intervals stated above, which can then be followed by a longer break.
Can I experience any side effects?
As this involves a substance that is naturally produced by your own body, the risk of allergic reactions and other side effects is minimal. As with hair mesotherapy, possible side effects of this method include redness and mild pain at the injection sites. These symptoms usually resolve within 24 hours of the procedure.
Effects and the ideal combination with mesotherapy
Combining plasma therapy with hair mesotherapy is a good option, as the two methods complement each other. While hair mesotherapy provides a valuable complex of nutrients and vitamins that may be lacking in the treated area, your own plasma contains nutrients naturally produced by your body. By applying plasma to the area being treated, we can deliver higher concentrations of these substances to the hair follicles and help improve the metabolism of the scalp.
