Home hair treatment and hair care

Is it worth investing in shampoos and products from the pharmacy or drugstore?
Specialist hair cosmetics have a direct effect on the quality, nourishment and growth of hair. We definitely consider it a good and worthwhile investment.Using hair products topically, for example shampoos, toners and hair serums containing caffeine, has a beneficial effect. It helps to speed up the treatment process and improve its effectiveness and overall results, recommends Dr Silvia Andelová.  However, she stresses that comprehensive care and treatment should be maintained both externally and internally. This includes an adequate intake of vitamins B, C, D and K, as well as folic acid, zinc, iron, selenium, calcium, beta-carotene and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

What can I do myself to help care for or prevent hair loss?

  • Avoid pulling on your hair when combing wet strands: apply a detangling product and use a wide-toothed comb.
  • Avoid excessive use of heated styling tools such as curling irons, straighteners and hairdryers: use heat-protection styling products to help shield your hair from heat damage.
  • Once a week, massage your scalp to help stimulate blood circulation.
  • Ask your doctor about any medicines or supplements you take that could be contributing to hair loss.
  • Maintain a genuinely healthy lifestyle. Some studies also point to a link between smoking and male pattern baldness.
